Maryland

Ryan and I took advantage of the opportunity to go visit some of his family up in Maryland  this past weekend.  It was equal parts amazing and cold.

We had the pleasure of staying at his Dad's house at Lake Linganore,  a quirky neighborhood composed of retro 70's vacation homes turned full-time residences.

Close by is the city of  Frederick - with a unique downtown area  filled with cozy cafe's,  and trendy boutiques like THE MUSE.  Opened in 2003 by Whitney Bingham  with a mission to
"create an ever-changing environment that stimulates creative inspiration by introducing people to new artists and providing personal handcrafted gifts.  We are committed to giving back to the community and catering to our customers' needs."

If you ever have a chance to stop in - do it! and be sure to support this local shop by picking up your own cool collectibles, like this ring Ryan got me!

Frederick is also surrounded by crazy looking dilapidated barns, and your pick of historic battlefields...along the way we came across this amazing site!!!

We rounded up our trip with a metro ride to DC to first check out the Holocaust Museum.

Never have I experienced emotions like I did in that building.  No lectures, textbooks, or classrooms could bring you the same experience.  We happened to visit this museum on National Holocaust Remembrance Day, which made it very crowded, but it was worth rubbing up against a few strangers.  It feels a little inappropriate to talk too much about it, so I'll leave you with the advice to visit for yourself...

After the museum, we lightened our day by visiting landmarks and Memorials-a-plenty...
